Sea Trout Fishing

First Cousin to the Atlantic Salmon.  This Sea Trout is a wild brown trout that has migrated to the sea, has spent a couple of years in the salt water, to then return to the fresh water rivers to spawn, just like the Salmon. The Sea Trout is one of our hardest fighting fish, many anglers believe harder fighter than our Salmon.  These fish can be caught by a range of methods from worms to the traditional fly.  The Sea Trout is usually caught at first and last light, and then in the darkness of night. These special fish enter our waters in numbers around the beginning of June and can be found in the rivers till around the last of September.  The Sea Trout population has been falling over the past years, and now there is a concerted effort to protect the sea trout, in the same way that our Atlantic Salmon is being protected.  The most common method that anglers use is Catch and Release.
