Winter Wonder - land at Belvoir Castle

It didn't look like a promising start to the day with thick snow and low winds. But miraculasly, the weather took a turn for the better, the snow stopped and the winds picked up a little and the birds were taking to the skies.

The excellent teamwork between the shoot manager and the head gamekeeper, along with a good team of beaters meant the the shoot was first class. The birds were flying over thick and fast and very high. The guns were of exceptional standards, some of the best we've seen. The best cartridge to bird ratio seen this year at Belvoir Castle was 5.5:1, but this team of 9 guns smashed the record with a ratio of 3:1.

The Hospitality put on by Belvoir Castle was also first class. We sat for lunch in one of the dining rooms looking out over the vast land surrounding the castle. Absolutely stunning. And the food was just as stuning as the scenery.

Belvoir Castle made for a stunning backdrop at the shoot. It's beautiful grounds covered in a thick blanket of snow truly made it a winter wonderland. In our opinion, one of the best shoots on offer in the UK!
